Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

TestAcademy works without an account, and most of your data stays on your device. This page explains, in plain language, what we store, what stays in your browser, and what we never collect. It covers both the free site and the paid plans.

What stays in your browser

You can use TestAcademy without an account. Without one, the following is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device, and is never sent to us:

  • The test code you write in the editor.
  • Your lecture progress, challenge progress and quiz scores.

You can remove this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for TestAcademy. Your test code is compiled and run entirely inside your browser. It is never uploaded to a server.

When you create an account

An account is optional. It saves your progress across devices and lets you buy a paid plan. When you create one, we store, in our database:

  • Your email address.
  • If you sign up with a password, a scrambled (hashed) version of it. We never store the password itself and cannot read it.
  • If you sign in with Google or GitHub, the basic profile they share: your name, email and avatar.
  • Your synced progress, and which plan or credits your account holds.

Our database is Upstash Redis. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by emailing contact@testacademy.dev.

Payments

Paid plans are processed by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects the payment and billing details it needs to take a payment and to handle tax. We never see or store your card number. We receive from Paddle only what we need to unlock your account, such as the plan you bought and an order reference. Paddle's own privacy notice covers the data it holds.

Email list

If you join our email list, we store your email address to send you updates. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs, for example page views and load times. This data does not identify you personally and we do not use it to build profiles.

What we do not do

  • We never require an account to use the free content.
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
  • We do not store the code you write.

Hosting

The site is served by our hosting provider, which may process technical request data (such as IP addresses) as part of normal web hosting, for security and delivery purposes.

Children

TestAcademy is an educational site suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect.
